And of course netting to prevent any burrowing fishes or shrimps from disturbing the projected 3-4 inch DSB....

BTW, Anyone out there uses this...

Bought it from LFS... but has a funny smell... like wax like tat...

Dunno will leak chemicals into my refugium????

Hi Guys,

I placed the green netting mentioned here on one of my light diffusers, and you know what Happened????, The netting got stuck to the diffusers... I think it was the coating or something.... sort of burnt into the plastic.... guess I was right, that fishy smell from the netting was some sort of coating that is a potiential problem!!!!!

And you know what, I bought it from a marine LFS.....!!!!!!

I think I just stick with the eggcrates... and avoid large burrowing animals..... :(

Was actually contemplating to keep my yellow faced antenna goby..... :(

now looks likes got to surrender it......

BTW, jus filled the sump with water.... however, a little paranoid regarding whether the tank would hold????

If your eggcrate covers the entire sand area, any burrowing goby won't be able to get under it.

Hi Guys,

My refugium is completed!!!!!

As I utilise my previous filter media to seed my current setup, my cycle period has been reduced tremendously..... actually, I just dump and go.....

My procedure...

1) placed my previous filter media in..

2) run the tank with sand and some hardy pistol shrimps for 2 days...

3) placed some LR / softies from previous setup in and run for 1 day....

4) observe the tank...and when all inhabitants are doing fine...

5) dump everything else in....and aquascape........

My setup has been running for about 3 days now.......so far so good.....

Placed a Blenny and Maroon clown in recently .... been observing and so far, fishes have done well and corals are opening up .......

BTW, I will be intending to modify my current skimmer into a Beckett, will require a Schedule 80 gate valve and some acrylics... and should be done....

All thanks to a great Pal... Alvy.:lol:

Hi Guys,

Was thinking og having a mated pair of maroon clown in my tank....

heard that they are hermatrophites??? so the bigger one would actually change gender into a female........

I have a Maroon clown so was thinking of buying a smaller one and placing them in in the hope of them becoming a pair....

What do you think guys????

Hey Phang...

Why dun u buy a bigger new one? Cos if u buy a smaller one for ya current maroon...I'm juz afraid the current one (being bigger n more dominant) may kill the smaller one....

Maroons...V-fierce

I'm gonna break the cycle

I'm gonna shake up the system

I'm gonna destroy my ego

I'm gonna close my body now

Phang,

No progress on the tank at the moment. In the process of redoing my stand cos current stand might not be able to take the weight.

Will update once ready.

How is your main tank coming along?

Believe me, my still wondering "internal" or "external" overflow theory and analogy has been stopping me from proceeding... haven't even confirm who's gonna make my tank.........haahaahaa.... :P

I guess take some time and proceeding with some more drawings and confirmation before I will proceed.... since now that my refugium's been linked up....

Let's hope something great happens by Mid Nov.....

Stay tune.....

Phang, I would like to see the beckett rock some action in your tank. Since this is just your refugium, I would be interested to see how you run the filtration, if possible. BTW a very nice tank, should have gotten you to be my interior designer for my new tank :D
