My fish all die. It's high salinity can cause fish to die. This is the third fish. What should i do? Now I just throw halve the water n pour mineral water in coz I got no ro water. Do u think it will be fine. Now check salinity stable but I don't know whether the coral can survive or not? The fish already died after several hours in the tank.
Pls help me newbies here.
Still trying try n error

What is your salinity now?

Bring it down slowly through a series of small water changes over a few weeks so your corals don’t get shocked.

Not sure about mineral water, but I will just use tap water and anti chlorine if you don’t have rodi

True bro all need patience. Now left with another ios tank with only damsel n rock. So I slowly relax myself before I start again. Failure wont stop me! I will be back but slowly n steady.

stop buying fish or corals or anemone. or any livestocks. you are just going to get more dead animals the more u do this till you end up decomming cause you keep flushing money down the toilet.

stop adding any corals/anemones. if your fish can die within hours, what more corals/anemone.

keep one tank, suggest the ios with livestock. the other one decomm.

wait for nitrite and ammonia to to drop to zero. not cause its toxic but that means there's still ammonia, which is toxic to fishes, present. btw to whoever is reading, nitrite is not as toxic as others have stated. read the following link and see how high can a tank-bred clownfish stand nitrite levels. http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2005-06/rhf/index.php. unless there's a new study proving otherwise, its to clear misconceptions.

change 50% of the water once ammonia/nitrite zero.

meantime, feed your damsel. thats it. dont add anything anymore.

if you can do this, then its a good first step.

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes

Too many people spend money they haven't earned to buy things they don't want to impress people they don't like.

I believe water is really the foundation of any tank, even more so for a nano tank. so really need to be patient and ensure water is stable before introducing fishes and corals.

we wouldn't build our house with straws because the big bad wolf will blow our house down. same theory for a tank. haha.

all the best and hope you will persevere with this hobby!! fighting~!

If you are in it for the long term, invest in refractometer in order to know what your salinity is. I would consider reliable test kits staple equipment too.

& pls stop buying more livestock to throw in “to see if your water is ok”. We learn hard lessons as we go in our way in the hobby but one of the most important lesson is that we as hobbyists have a responsibility to the livestock once we buy them from the LFS or other reefers. Damsel or not, it is still a life. Sometimes the gravity of this tends to get away.

Staying tuned to when you have some water parameters to share so that all of us here can help you out.

lastly, this hobby needs patience......... so cliche but so true

Nice! Have you bought any refractometer ot test kits? I will think minimal will be to check for Salinity & Ammonia (Min). I started with 3 test kits. Now i have so many  i dont want to count LOL. BTW, I am a newbie too, but I agree that correct and stable water parameters is of utmost importance! Happy reefing!
