The yellow female is a H.kuda, the red/brown male is a H.spinosissimus. I am very positive. Both are not native to Australia.

The boss said they are from Australia when he try to justify the high price, and keep insisting that they are a MATED PAIR and must be sold as a pair. At first I was quoted $X (very expensive IMO) for each, and when I decided to break my wallet to buy the H.spinosissimus, he said I must buy both or nothing, otherwise the H.kuda has no value. Oh he also kindly remind me that the CITES regulation on SH will be effective in May <_<

A wasted trip, but yet again proved my disappointment with this LFS.

Btw, I last bought some H.spinosissimus (including red) at less than half the price.

does not looked like a pair to me though... the red is indeed very nice.. but then again, i see it slowly starving to its demise under such unscruplous dealer...

i also have stopped buying my stuff from that anymore.. visit yes.. buy.. nope...

I went there today and did not see that PAIR of seahorses anymore. Sold or gone west heaven? I really hope they were bought by someone, and someone who can manage to keep them well.

hi Vincent,

the reasonI kept emphasizing PAIR is simply becos that 2 specimen are of totally different species: H.kuda and H.spinossisimus. In seahorses, mated pair of different species is very uncommon in their wild life (tank bred is a different story). And I am pretty sure that the boss does not have sufficient seahorse knowledge to determine if they are a mated pair, as he cannot even ID the species.

I understand and can accept that this is a demand & supply world: if you think the price it not right you can go away, and someone else will still be interested. But I am alway pissed off if the LFS try to con me intentionally with wrong info to justify his pricing.

Hi,

I don't think that LFS is trying to con you, just that they are ignorant in the species  . If it is only a seahorse LFS then it's definitely a con shop. But unless I have live mysis on hand, I will not try buying. Reason being, chances of it dying is extremely high without live food. And hence will be wasting precious money instead and shortchanging my current lifestock on SW changes which is more practical. :D
