Wiring up an Iwaki MX70

Hi Robe,

Need some advice.

Opened up the cover of the Iwaki pump's electrical points (doh).

No symbols to indicate which point does the live and neutral wires go to and where exactly should the ground wire be? In the same box or outside on the metal casing itself?

Check using a multimeter to see which of the terminals are connected to the capacitor (black rectangular box w/ gray wire). Do a continuity check by touching the probe to one of the capacitor terminal and the other probe to either of the terminal connector. The terminal w/ the continuity to the capacitor is the neutral terminal.

Ground the earth wire to the screw attached to the motor body.

Alvy says any terminal to wire the live and neutral will do. And I did... it's working perfectly. I grounded the iwaki too.

It's working fabulously on my new alvyfoamer... lots of power and foam. Just that the 250watts consumption is a little hard to swallow.

Nah... I will probably put my PS on timer so after lights off, when I feed my phytoplankton... the corals will get a good feeding without me worrying that the skimmer will remove plankton before they do... I doubt if live plankton will get removed as quickly as dead foods/amino acid foods but it will help me save a few hours of electricity at least! Hee hee!

Phang, you are getting an iwaki yourself rite? ;)

AT ... finally got your super skimmer running yea....show some pic okie.

Lucky for me, my HK friend got my MX70 wired up before hand carry to me.....kee..kee... Save all the trouble.

It's actually very easy.... even an electrical moron like me could wire it up in a jiffy... once pointed the right way! :P

MD40R won't be sufficient for your beckett skimmer. I use a MD40R for my tiny downdraft skimmer.

I think I give up Beckett Skimming.....

This hobby's gonna kill me!!!!!!!!!!....

      Wts easy sps frag x 2 for $20

      Selling off some frags as a bundle at 20 sgd. Green one like glow sticks super actinid and bright. Blue digi tips glow visibly blue under bright light.
