FueL,

den dunno wat's the better range to have it liao....i would want my skimming to improve but the 1.020 that LFS are using can be a problem.... :(

Den also, I tink if the SG is high, the fish gets ich more easily....

 You'll face a harder acclimatization process. The s.g of water in farms and LFS are usually around the lower 1.020s....

mm.thats true. I was assuming a mature tank with at least 70 percent stocked. Sorry. Although i have no problem with my newly acquired SPS and Yellow tang. No ich issue for the yellow zebrasome. Maybe i was lucky :P

Heh...I was referring to inverts mostly..I remember there was a time long ago..when everything I bought and added into my 2 footer died...then finally found out the reason..my s.g hydrometer was faulty..got a new one..and my tank s.g was 1.026! the introduced inverts were in s.g in 1.020s. I remember even caulerpa went asexual and melted after being introduced into such water.

Anyway Rav..I keep my s.g between 1.022-1.024 for the most time..works fine for me..

Always something more important than fish.

Corals love a higher SG and some fishes too.

But anything from 1.021 to 1.026 is fine for most livestock.

The key thing is to acclimatize your new stock slowly to your tank's salinity levels.
