Vicky, are you new to the hobby? If you are and your tanks is small and immature, I suggest you do not keep the blue tang (aka. regal blue tang, aka. hippo tang etc). They are extremely hard to keep in a home aquaria and very few people have had any success in keeping this beautiful fish.

If you are insistant on buying one, then I suggest you read up on what is needed to care for the fish before you get one.

I'm saying this because I feel that this poor fish has been exploited enough due to the 'Finding Nemo' craze here. :(

You tank needs to be well established as well. Tangs especially blue tangs are known to be prone to white spots and ich. You may face problems getting them to feed initially as well.

I saw some nice blue tangs at T95 this evening but managed to resist the temptation given my immature tank.

Frequent rescaping (common in new tank) can also result in stress and these tangs do not cope very well with stress.

I am not a tang expert as you can see but I did some reading as my ultimate aim is to keep a blue tang several months down the road.
