I have a 31/2 ft tank running on 3 cannisters cos design of cabinet does not allow a sump 3 eheims 2213,2217 & 2224 running well but like they say cannisters are nitrate factories so I also using skimming an the aquamedic 400 denitrator to reduce the nitrate levels.

so far so good!

Mine's a 2 ft tank running on Eheim Pro 2222, one built in mechanical/biological filter and Skimmer... been running for nearly 7 months plus now. No problems at all, guess jus have to be hardworking and do regular maintenance, i do maintenance once every month and also perform weekly water change... all my LS and corals are doing well so far :) but in the long run will definitely aim at a sump cos i think all the additional external stuff takes up too much space in the main tank and makes it unsightly. But that will only be when i upgrade to 4 footer... which is... a long way off...

I just removed the sponge and pre-media filter from my Eheim and everything is doing fine. I have seen it recommended a number of times. I removed it to prevent nitrate spikes but I am not sure if it would help prevent ammonia spikes.

i also using a matrix profession cannister filter for 7 months. no problem except some water drops after closing the the filter. not noisy and easy cleaning

but one thing about cannister filter. after u change your sponge and put new sponge, then close the cover , and start the filter. then suddenly can see huge dirt coming out of the outlet pipe to the tank water. make my water like a dirt flying around the tank .must wait for few hrs to see it clear as crystal.

due to a lack of space in my cabinet, i am using a cannister. using a ehiem 2026...... but there is no media or ceramic rings in it. for chemical filtration. in it, i placed chemi-pure, rowaphos, poly filter and filter wool.

i oso utilise a i box for a overflow down to my 1 ft refugium where i grow macroalgae.

still experiencing nitrate levels of abt 25ppm. with the exception of this, so far so good.

Rowaphos is a phosphate removal media...

Where to get it? Price range?

I been using a Eheim Pro 2222 also for 5-6mths. Chemipure, filter, some eheim Lava.. No problem so far.. But the flow rate like not sufficent..

It is getting unsightly with all the equip outside.. haiz..

Whats the size of your tank? Even for 2 feet, your flowrate simply from your cannister is not enough. You may want to add an additional powerhead or pump to your tank to increase the circulation to prevent dead water zones. ;) i am also using eheim pro 2222 for my tank, using an additional powerhead plus water outlet from my prizm for circulation. :)
