Notice some discoloration on my polyp coral ? Is it normal?

Zoas usually wouldn't loss it's color easily. if the polyp is not opening up , check and dip to see if there is any pests

You may need to get the light in the right spectrum too as zoas prefer actinic lighting or at least lighting in 16k - 20k Kelvin temperature to really Color up.

Hi Kelvin, my fish tank is about 3 weeks old.

Btw, the colour of the corals returned and their polyps opened up subsequently. Is it a norm for such behavior?

For 3 weeks old may be your water parameter havent stable. Its normal for zoas behaved as such. Sometimes close and open back.

Yes it's safe. Just that it may not be strong enough to cause growth. u may want to find a light that has full spectrum in the Long run.
