TANK CRASH........wonder wat happen

this morning wake up found some of the following casuality :

CONFIRM DEAD

1 X harlequin shrimps

1 X ###### shrimps

1 X banded goby

1 X bi-colour blenny

most of them is with me for more than 2 months

in coma/dazzy .... still trying to revive

1 X Cleaning shrimps

1 X blood shrimps

5 X ###### shrimps

2 X zebra shrimps

2 X purple firegoby

1 X dunno wat goby

Have change 1/2 tank water this morning......, in the afternoon found the corpse of the followings :

3 X ###### shrimps

1 X dunno wat goby

1 X zebra shrimps

The rest still ok..... anyway left with nothing much now NB

tats all i have in a 2 feet tank other than corals, leather, mushrooms and cup only. I wonder if its becos of my mushroom, as it start to melt.....

i have yet to check the water parameter... though i normally will do that once every 2 weeks. How long do u guys check your water parameter Maybe i should start a thread and find out more about this....

bro, no fan and no chiller ......, cos i was suprised that a reputuable farm is keeping their LS w/o chiller and the water temp is 30-31 degrees, so i follow his advise....

all other corals tats with me for months is fine.... only the mushrooms is melting, could it be the mushroom release so kind of toxic tat almost wipe out my tank

31 degrees is madness for a stable reef tank.

Probably his livestock in his tank moves in and out so they don't suffer long term stress.

Mushrooms are hardy and they won't 'melt' unless they are terribly stressed and it could be a temperature spike that did them in.

The heat these days is terrible... June will be worse.

if u are unwilling to pay for a chiller, its ok....but even a fan?? spare a thought for your LS....its juz like soaking in a hot spring, especailly during noon time when temperature soars!!

To be fair, I don't think hamannbmw specifically stated that his tank was at 30-31 degrees C...he meant the LFS. Don't think that temps can reach that high in a house as opposed to an LFS/fish farm - esp since the die-offs took place at nite...

Think it could be due to a pH swing. A tank at warmer temperatures, has less oxygen carrying capacity. Coupled with higher metabolic rates, there will be higher CO2 content in your water. If your kH is low, chances are that your pH might have fluctuated quite a little. Stressing the livestock. The first to go would be the shrimps..then maybe when the shrimps became 'belachan' then the fish became affected. Just my guess...

I think your mushroom 'melted' and died because of the tank crash which killed many of your fishes.. It affected your mushroom as well, causing it to die off slwoly and seem as if it was melting.

So, actually the tank crash caused the melting, not the other way round.

What has been done before the tank crashed? Like washing of filter media, any accidental spillage of chemicals etc.

always see such fine bubble particles in lfs when they have dying anemone..

or maybe the surface dont have enough movement of water?
