Red Sponge dun like strong lights?

You can place them under the lights. They don't really mind light at all. Why most people recommend putting sponges in the shade is due to the fact that most marine tanks have algae or diatom blooms. Putting the sponge under direct light will lead to nuisance algae smothering the sponge. If your tank is mature and you have no problems with nuisance algae then by all means you can put it under direct light.

Always something more important than fish.
