SRC Member ervine Posted April 3, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted April 3, 2004 Hi guys, I laid out a crab trap yesterday hoping to capture what I believe is the cause for some of my fish disappearances... crabs.. However, today I only managed to find 2 of my hermits inside the trap when I know for sure that there are other critters out there (i've seen them!)... How? Should I lay it out again and wait? FuEl
I've tried trapping potential evil crabs..about 1-2 of them in my tank..so far unsuccessful..only trapped my 'pom pom' crabs. SRC Member Siput Posted April 3, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted April 3, 2004 Somewhat , and sorry for hijacking, but are crabs necessarily bad? saw a couple of small ones in my tank plus one about 1 cm with an evil looking claw...should I get rid of them? SRC Member ervine Posted April 3, 2004 Author SRC Member Share Posted April 3, 2004 not ALL crabs are bad.. but some are... and since I have my scavenging hermits, I don't need the other "good" crabs, so I rather get rid of all of them and leave just the hermits... so far still no luck

Should I lay it out again and wait? try placing the traps near the place where you saw the crabs before.
hbpencil
Try to tie two rubber bands across the openings like a cross to prevent the hermit crab from climbing in (restrict the bottle openings). Hope this helps.
