SRC Member Vinoth Posted April 2, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted April 2, 2004 Yup its normal. The water will be evaporated but the salt remains. that's why we topup with fresh water.

SRC Member 19percula Posted April 2, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted April 2, 2004 water evaporate but not salt but if it is due to salt spray then there will be salt lost but is best to change water once every week
hwcheong
Thanks for the info. So it meant that is normal. Change water every week? Normally I change once a month. About 10-20% of the water. Do you normally absorb out all those dirty stuff in in the sandbed?
SRC Member damsel-in-distress Posted April 2, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted April 2, 2004 1.03???? isnt that too low for marine??? You mean too high?? The standard salinity level for marine tank is about 1.023sg , no?
SRC Member Domino Posted April 2, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted April 2, 2004 Yup, Top up with fresh water, not salt water!! and check salinity once in a while to maintain it at around 1.023sg. Water change is best 5-10% every two weeks than 10-20% every month if my understanding is correct. And yes, your water change will be best if you take as much waste as possible out of the aquarium. So best is to siphon the sand. All this decaying stuff will contribute to NH3 -> NO2 -> NO3.
