omg water stats gone bad!

hi bros and sis, need some help...

after feeding my fishes i made some measurement 30mins later...

found out that my

NH4 grey in colour ...isit 0?

NO3 = shows 100 on the colour card

NO2= 0.25 on the colour card

ph = 8.0

livestock in my tank

1x purple tang in my sump currently..

10x hermit crabs

1 x bicolour wrasse

1 x skunk clown

1 x africa clown

1 x blue tang

1 x six line wrasse

1 x dottyback

1 x scooter blenny

1 x cleaner wrasse

3 x cleaner shrimp

1 x boxer shrimp

1 x blood shrimp

lots of tub worm, about 60 of them due to spawning.

2 anemone hosting both clowns... look healthy..

afew mushrooms,button mushrooms and yumas

4x bubble corals

3x colliflower

1x seafan

1x blue sponge

1x purple sponge

things happen recently:

purple sponge bcome soggy threw it away..

sand bed bcome very dirty..

red and grape algae starts to grow in my sump

did a major rocks shifting.. lost a small star fish cant find it..

washed my filter media..

ceramic chips and bio balls washed.

1 skunk shrimp just molted..

can someone please help me~

orrr............CRASH SIGNS............faster faster give me or sell me cheap cheap all your LS......hehe

Water change 30-50% will help a lot...........reduce feeding or do it at interval with smaller amount so not much left over........stock check your LS daily, esp.....anemones if its dying, you beter get it out fast.

tank size is 5x2x2

set up for close to 5mths... it was transfered from 3ft to 5ft..

currently kh is 9 and ph 8

Did you wash all of your media at 1 shot? Did you use tank water to wash the media?

It might have killed off too much bacteria, hence resulting in the spikes.

Think another water change might help in this case.

i think you should dose beneficial bacteria liek nutrafin....washing the bioballs and cermaic chips left your system unstable,unable to cope with the bioload...moreover, the boom in algae in sump indicates levels of phosphate and nitrate..suggest that you use accurate test kits and report your findings.Changing water does not help at all IMO

changing water may make it worst, if you did not mix the salt properly, which give a higher fluctuation in in ph, etc, causing more stress to the LS.

Bro, u should never use fresh water to flush the medias... this not only kills the bacterial, it might also trigger the bacterial to release toxins, since they go into shock! Also, things like wool should be changed, not washed too... your bioload seems very high, due to the number of LS plus the 60 tube worms???

The Weipro might not be able to help enough... Maybe you can add bacterial, might be useful if you can get some water from other tanks, live rocks, live sand .... anything to increase your bacterial count now that the nitrifying bacterial been murdered by you.... you may wanna house some of the less impt LS in another tank of saltwater. Stop feeding for few days until the water more stabilise....

i have move my clowns and purple tang out already,

kept the feeding to the minimum at 1time per day. instead of 2 times per day..dosing liquid bacteria,got some lr,sand and water from my other tank..however i only manage to get a small amount..

is this good enough?

Hi Hi...pH and Kh buffer dun dose in this manner......you should measure your current level, then calculate how much powder is required to increase your current level to your desired level.

IMHO,

its better u dun feed at all or 2-3days, the fishes wun die of starvation... unless there is sufficient bacterial, if not the tank might crash due to the feeding noe...

Bro, measure your no2 and ammonia, if it's relatively low levels, like 0.2ppm for nitrites, u can add one or 2 fishes back slowly, day by day, if u have alternatives to house the fishes for long term, den wait till it's zero... if not, dat may be the best. Also, the place u are housing the fish away from the main tank, try to change maybe 20% water everyday, since i guess u dun have any filtering/skimmer for it. If u have a eheim canister, u mayb wanna use it to help for the time being, but remember you when u disconnect the eheim cansiter, your tank has to be pretty matured liao, ...

im dosing nutrafin bacteria which i just bought it today..

it state that 10ml(1 capful) per 35l. do i dose 20caps daily as my tank is abt 700l?

Just dose according to what they say, safer.

Anyway i think it'll be good to let us know the current ammonia and nitrite levels as well. It would give us a better idea of the situation. Guess what everyone has suggested more or less has covered what can be done.

Just remember not to wash all your filter media with tapwater in future as this will kill most if not all of the bacteria.. If washing is required, use tank water instead and remember not to wash all at 1 go, maybe 15% of the media at a time. It'll kill less bacteria.
