Hi,

currently i am using a metal stand to support my 2ft tank.

But i am thinking of adding in sump below it

but i notice that at the connecting area for the stand, it has not been weld completely.

being thinking if it is possible to do some welding on the rest of the area without lifting my tank

and can sure a stand support 2 tanks that will weight 200kg

thanks

dun think you'll need to do that.. the possibility of a tank's silicon giving way has a much much higher chance than a metal stand giving way.. haven't heard of a metal stand give way before..

Why do we use "My 2 cents worth" when 1 cents are not legal tender in Singapore anymore? Shouldn't it be 5 cents worth?

"Its easier to blame the 'mantis' or crabs in the tank for missing & dead livestocks.."

yup i understanding wat u mean

but the stand seem a bit flimsy to me

and the welded area are like bare minimal

so afraid if i add in another tank and if rust eats in, the whole stand will collapse

any idea if i should weld and if welding it without removing the tank possible.....

or should i continue to use this stand

thanks archanehacker

I know what you mean, I used to have those black metal stands that looks quite flimsy to me too. The horizontal bars supporting the actual tank is only wielded to the vertical bars at two points: one on top and one below. God knows how many sleepless nights I had as the stand was used in my office. Now I have change the stand to the standard wrought iron ones and my colleague took over the old stand and he is still using it now (2 yrs later)

Point of my story: the metal stand are surprising strong despite the look and feel.

Just a suggestion. What about reinforcing using epoxy glue for metal.

if the welding cannot withstand the weight, i doubt the epoxy will....

welding can be done even with your tank intact....but i think u need to pay more to get the guys to do it for u in your house....maybe u might wanna get help from renovation companies? or u can look around for contruction sites and ask the Blangadeshies ( i hope i spelt it correctly, no offences) to help u. currently my house has some guys doing welding in my void deck....i stay woodlands 715...if its convinient, u might wanna come around here and ask...
