SRC Member Bunster Posted February 8, 2017 Author SRC Member Share Posted February 8, 2017 Santa monica Surf4 algae scrubber... when you first get it you'll notice a lot of light coming through the bottom... but that'll be blocked later by the algae growth Takes a couple of weeks to get some growth going... not bad once it gets going First harvest

SRC Member Bunster Posted February 27, 2017 Author SRC Member Share Posted February 27, 2017 Molly miller blenny... a gift from a reefer... turned out to be a real pest when it started nipping on my clam. Had to hook him out... and exiled to sump where it disappeared...
SRC Member Bunster Posted February 27, 2017 Author SRC Member Share Posted February 27, 2017 Geo's Calcium reactor loaded up with extra coarse media and grotech magnesium chips. Using an additional ph probe from my neptune apex as a ph controller. Ran into some major problems with the Intense solenoid which was supposedly very good. Lost 4 whole 5 litre cylinders of carbon dioxide thanks to burst O rings. They would normally fail after 1-2 days of usage, requiring me to go back and change the cylinder, change the O ring... quite a frustrating experience. And yes, we ruled out the usual causes of overtightening, we applied white tape to the threads... The shop was kind enough to change the solenoid to a brand new one but yet the problem persisted. Someone told me its a batch problem of the intense o ring which was easily remedied by changing to a cheap O ring. In the end, lost faith in the brand... traded it in for an Ista solenoid and I haven't had any problems for the last 3 months.
SRC Member Bunster Posted February 27, 2017 Author SRC Member Share Posted February 27, 2017 See all my nice fishes... most were successfully transferred over from my old tank... Royal gramma pair Springeri damsel Genicanthus semifasciatus Hybrid pbt x gold rim Kole Tang Coral beauty Some of the fish were with me for last 2 years but thanks to my over eagerness in adding fish, not having a proper QT, plus this being my first time at tangs... I introduced velvet in the system and everything was wiped our over 4 days during the xmas period...
