The IceProbe chiller is specially designed for small tanks, like a 2 ft tank. The cooling power depends on the volume of water. You can read more about the chiller from the manufacturer's webpage (http://www.coolworksinc.com)

The difference between IceProbe and tradition chiller is that is uses Peltier technology to cool liquid, ie there is no compressor.

Quite a number of people in in SRC have used it. So far, I have not heard any complaints, especially for a small tank like 2 ft.

i have an idea to put 2 ice probes in mi tankie to run an MH.

y ice probe?

1. runs cheaper than a chiller

2. less mess

3. upfront costs about e same

only thing is i heard may not be so effective in bigger tanks.

Must clarify that the number of IceProbes needed really depends on your tank volume, temp you want to achieve and ambient temp. I find that the chart on this page is quite accurate.

Creetin, besides your MH, you also need to factor in the powerheads in your tank... they introduce heat as well.

How many gallons in total are you trying to cool? Tank plus sump volume?
