white cheek aka Acanthurus nigricans aka Gold-Rimmed Surgeon aka powder black.

i tried keeping this beautiful specimen once,

it survived 3 month before

even though it was feeding one nori and brine shrmp and mysis and my prepared garlic soaked combi of seafood....

the colour started to fade after a while, the beautiful dark almost black

became light brown, then one day just died.

they have a VERY bad track record,

you might want to consider the

Powder Brown Tang aka Acanthurus japonicus aka white faced tang.

look for the white face, other than that , they look almost identical.

IMHO, white cheek tangs are better off in the sea ;)

I have got 1 white cheek tang. With me for 3 mths liao.

1. Yes, mine also turn from dark coloured body to lighter tones. Needs alot of swimming space....and hidding place too. (I think >3ft tank is neccessary)

2. It eats well...pellets, mysis, nori..all can.

3. Like Blue Tang, prone to white spots but heals easily...with garlic, doctor fishes and cleaner shrimps.

4. Pray hard.....hope that my white cheek tang can last longer.

Best regards,

Golf
