hi people, the right-most branch of my hammer is turning whitish. can anyone advise how this happens and is there anything i can do ? so far the extension is still quite ok.

noticed that it started becoming like that after i added a leather coral. could it be the toxins ?

Assuming you didn't change the lights, it might be. Run some carbon then wait and see. It will recover over some time.

here's a pic of my hammer... they have really blossom ..... need strong light and light/ moderate flow of water .... also water parameters are very important ... u need to test the water .....

Test for what? Elaboration... which of these do u mean

Nitrates,

Nitrite/Ammonia,

Calcium

Alkalinity

Magnesium

Iodine

Phosphates

I've noticed that most corals will shrivel up with hight nitrates but this is not the case here.

the basic water quality must be there ie

Nitrates, ~0

Nitrite/Ammonia, ~ 0

IMO these 2 are more important to start off in any marine tank and then you move on to other aspects of the water .... ( skimming is also important !! )

the rest can vary slightly of the ideal conditions

Also , IMO , the 36W PL are not really sufficient or you can try placing the branch closer to the light source
