I'm using Tunze 9001 skimmer.

Thanks for the compliment, but I have never checked my NO3 & PO4 until now. At least not yet, planning to get the kits. :)

Here are all the stuff I'm using.

The Coral A, B, E, F, V, Kalium, Coral Food & Pro Bio F are dosed once every 3 days.

20% water change using tap water with Probiotic Salt weekly at SG 1.025.

Phosphate Minus & Carbon in the canister filter.

These are a good range of product. And the packaging look awesome.

So you are one of the special one that uses tap water. Never go thru any stages of DI filtration? How do you combat phosphate and nitrate by using tap water now algae bloom?

Thanks. Yeah, just tap water, no filtration at all.

I do have algae & diatom, but my CUC are taking care of them.

I use the combination below to further reduce the nutrient.

Probiotic Reef Salt => bacteria will reduce NO3 & PO4 then pulled out by skimmer

Pro Bio F => bacteria to consume NO3 & PO4 then become food for corals

Phosphate Minus => GFO to remove PO4 & SiO4

Guess I will get Aquaforest product like yours too. I have not dose anything to my tank except Kalk so far.

The basic things to start with are:

Nutrient export => Pro Bio S + NP Pro or Pro Bio F

Supplement for colors & health => Coral A, B, V, E

Probiotic Reef Salt & the rest are optional.

There are so many ways & products to achieve great tank. For me I choose Aquaforest from the get go coz

- most Aquaforest tanks i've seen has vibrant colors & healthy SPS

- very attractive packaging reminds me of cosmetics :D

- complete range of reefing needs. Coral food, supplements, balling method, aquascaping. Etc.

- not expensive, for my nano tank, the $15 (10ml) per bottle can last me almost a year.

I'm not affiliated to Aquaforest nor do i profit from them. Simply a satisfied beginner. :P

Whether the results is placebo or not i dont know. Just enjoy the it. lol.

You can check out these more credible reviews by experienced reefers.

Do I still have to dose KH, Mg and Ca after dosing AF product?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That's up to u, depending on ur corals consumption.

U can keep using ur Kalk as it is. The AF supplements are just to enhance.

AF also has their own Ca, KH, Mg if u want to use everything from them.

How do you know how much to dose on a weekly basis?

All those AF products I use are simply vitamins, food & bacteria for reducing nutrients. Simply follow the recommended dosage.

You might be confusing those with Ca, KH & Mg, which I don't dose at all, not even Kalk. These stuff will crash my tank if I dose without knowing the parameters.

Ok actually by looking at it you save alot of money on the rest of the additives and test kits.

I read up on Kalk seems not bad. :)

Kalk is reasonably safe if you at least measure PH. It will up your KH, Ca and PH. The key point to dose Kalk is that it need to be very slow, ideally use a dripper to dose Kalk, my drip rate is 1 drop/sec.
I dose Kalk to maintain my PH to be above 8.0, KH will stays somewhere 7-8 for me. Ca is high for me because I also dose Coraline additive.

Yeah, I try to not spend too much since i just started into saltwater. So now try to get by with minimum stuff, haha. :)

Maybe will kalk a try next time after i known my parameters

Thanks for the tip, I did think of getting ATO with Kalk before, but still got chance of upsetting the tank due to PH swing in case of overdosing. At this point my bi-weekly water change is enough to sustain my nano mixed reef. Sure there will be swing due to evaporation in such a small tank, but I try not sweat about it too much since my corals are growing reasonably well for a few months now. Less things to worry about and more time to enjoy :)
