The red and blue linkias or the sand shifting sea star should do the trick of eating detritus and also help in sifting sand but must have a DSB though.

Sand shifting stars are considered to be bad for DSB and plenum systems because they will decimate sand fauna required for a working sand bed. I will consider sand sifters non reef safe.

I read in a Marine Keeping book before that Blue Stars are supposed to be reef safe? That true?

Apart from the infauna, is there anything else that they can be fed with? Eg sinking pelletes or meaty foods?

hun...not reefsafe...i do not have a DSB and my corals are stack high up on my LR..can i still keep sandshifter stars . ?? THANKS
