My 2x1x1 tank

Just a small update on my tank, was playing with my new camera, pix quality still not that good, newbie at my new cam

Lighting: 2x36W PLs, 6500K bulb with actinic blue bulb

The 10000K bulb i was originally using spoilt and i didn't bother to buy another as i was upgrading to a 4ft and intend to use this set of PLs for my new tank's refugium. So i just got a 6500K PL to replace my 10000K PL.

Filtration wise i'm running an eheim liberty together with an eheim internal filter. Water changes, once every 2weeks, around 15%-20%. Now having a bout of microalgae growth, but i just removed quite alot of it manually during the water change i did last night.

Tank age:

Slightly more than 7months old.

No water parameters, didn't measure recently.

Livestock:

- Blue damselfish x1

- False Percula Clownfish x1

- Cleaner shrimp x2

- Blood shrimp x1

- Astrea Snail x3

What's ur water parameters esp nitrate, phospate, silicate ?

Astrea snail 2 on da wall. Any idea why this snail's pattern is different from Astrea snail 1? Didn't snap a pic of Astrea snail 3, all 3 acquired from Eaquarist Place.

No testkit for phosphates since mine fowlr don't feel its really necessary to buy one. Nitrates, i think i have ran out of it, haven't purchased extra tablets yet.

Is there a silicate testkit?

Later i think i'll do a water test then since you requested but right now lemme finish posting up the pics.

I started feeding marine flake food for a few days from T@@@@ and all this happened. Mean stuff, should have stuck to fish meat diet which was doing fine for weeks without causing any algae bloom, in fact the original bloom from the cycling period died down gradually until 1 fine day i tried some flake food and it all came back rapidly.

Cleaner shrimps, been with me for at least 4months. 1 of them had been with me since this tank began(as in after the cycling period was over). Both are pregnant almost all the time.

Make a guess on what is this Effect created because of some microalgae on the tank wall not photoshop editing!

Here are the water parameters:

Nh3 - 0

No2 - 0

No3 - Ran out of tablets! Last measured, it was around 40-50ppm i think which i feel should be ok for fowlr.

pH - 8.5

Calcium - 600ppm Testkit problem? Using JBL Calcium testkit.

u need to work hard to scrap clean ur 4ft tank in the future..

Scraping. Thats something which i prefer to be left to nature to do it... Eg. Snails. Unless you mean coralline algae.

my frend has a 3x1.5x1.5 tank and he has some 30 snails or so, the glass still not clean!

But the coralline algae on the rock grow very well....

I know Snails not effective but generally, so long as i can see inside and be able to observe the inhbitants, i don't mind if there's some microalgae growing along the tank walls.
