The nyos test kit is accurate & consistent. I'd trust the results.

I suspect my nitrate too low too. Could be the main suspect for my dino’s problem. Thanks.

Can I know what light you using? And are the par of the lights in good range?

Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app

I'm using Aqua Illumination Hydra lights.

This is an old pic but best shows the light configuration. The Hydra26 was brought over from my old 3ft tank. I added 4 new Hydra52 when i set up this 5ft tank.

This is also an old pic showing the PAR readings. It can go much higher but this is my current setting. I think its in the good range :)

Added an acrylic cover to the CoralBox Doser.

Using this doser the past months & must say its a good value for money doser. More reliable that some i've used in the past.

Do note you connect to it via home Wifi. This does not connect to a cloud for remote access (which is not needed for a dosing pump anyway).

Small contraption to help with the water mixing. One pipe points down to get to all the dead spots & manipulated via a long handle.

A valve routes water upwards to circulate the water up/down. Which also connects to a long hose to fill the display tank in the living room.

Using the new batch Clarisea fleece for the past 2 weeks. New material, longer ....and same price :)

Fleece appears darker & seems to be picking up more stuff. My old batch fleece currently lasts about 1.5 - 2 months. Looking forward to the new fleece lasting even longer.

Hello ! Would like to check with you how did you manage to fit the hose down to your Clarisea?

I saw you used a reducer to fit a 1 inch soft silicon hose. but what about the 2nd down pipe? (i think i saw you have 2 down pipe )

There are 2 down pipes from the tank (Herbie set up). One is the main drain & the other is the emergency drain.

For the main drain (40mm) pipe, it needs to be reduced to 30mm via a reducer from a piping shop. In my case, i 3D printed mine (to have additional feature).

227999530_P1010507(Small).jpg.ddcc7620cdc941ab716a5993c927c6e4.jpg

From here, the flexible hose is fitted into it & held in place with 2 cable ties.

Also, it is NOT a soft silicon hose. But more of those flexible vacuum cleaner hose type.

My bad on the soft silicon hose, must have confused with the one you attach to your vectra.

My current tank have 2 down flow and too much of a pain to re-do the piping. In my next build probably gonna opt for a single down flow to accommodate for the clarisea.

Appreciate your fast respond. Cheers!

Built a small acrylic tank that will sit on a platform above the bio media in the sump. 5mm panels. Mostly in white to improve internal reflection. 2 clear viewing panels as it will double up as a refugium for fish as necessary. One panel is made lower so water overflows back into the sump.

The main purpose was to improve the water pH levels and probably some contribution to reduce nitrate/phosphate.

Its been quite a few months since my last update on SRC forum. Made some changes to the tank.

Late November 2019 Upgraded the Hydra52 to Hydra64 and used it about 2 months+ now. Coral colors are great. There are a few design changes made to the Hydra64 over its predecessor.

77291365_2219862568319029_7314821624304238592_o.jpg.036f59174722d01c7c3055ea8c803ff8.jpg

The cables are longer and has better water proofing (peace of mind against accidental splashes).

78606866_2219862558319030_4862367582864277504_o.thumb.jpg.7549d5c3d651f8c7e4b16fdbb5cd9c2a.jpg

Hydra64 clusters are slightly recessed. This makes it less glaring when viewed from the side.

78553484_2219862541652365_7847398092994248704_o.thumb.jpg.aa916b5e8be7c5af41c67b95d2c5a14e.jpg

Less glare from the LED when viewed from the sides (because of the recessed LEDs)

The tilted lights are the Hydra26 (not changed) compared to the Hydra64.

Hydra52 on the left. A real workhorse for the past 3 years+

78219131_2219862621652357_1338147118912634880_o.thumb.jpg.d9acf5745534e95be0d171cd0c57d6af.jpg

Plenty of light with capacity to go further. Definitely better spread compared to the previous Hydra52.

Got a sturdy frag rack just before Christmas from Hardcoreefer.

Nicely packaged and has a slim/sleek design. Comes in several colors to match your preference.

540613667_20191217_024647322_iOS(Large).thumb.jpg.ec1c053873d3ac1655a73f4608266fdc.jpg

More importantly is functionality. It has a rubber pad on the inside which helps prevent slipping.

1697273382_20191217_024728144_iOS(Large).thumb.jpg.3753944a414d3ab5e390ae11a4975e9c.jpg

Its able to take relatively large frags on my 15mm tank glass. Magnet is pretty strong - and held up against several accidental knocks the past week.

The double acrylic thickness also helps frag plugs stay upright & not tilt & touch other frags.

1473923341_20191217_030914074_iOS(Large).thumb.jpg.4b7c76c75b09a7bc63859a92ecfc6343.jpg

Not the cheapest price but it does enhance the aesthetics of the tank. Overall a high quality frag rack made in Singapore.

1 week later, the flesh is growing back & covering the cut cross section already.

Starting to shadow other corals around it. Snip snip. Need a lot of glue to stick the colony back too :(

They AI Hydra64 moonlight feature (its actually dim warm white light) is quite nice. Able to view the corals at night & watch the polyps out in full force.

For those using the Alkatronic, you may have read there is a batch of reagent that required a different mixing ratio (2:3 instead of the usual 1:4 ratio of reagent to RODI water).

The 4L concentrate can make 10L instead of the usual 20L.

I got a bottle of this batch of reagent because it was going at a discounted price of $40 per bottle (from reefmarketSG) . Its actually quite a good deal.

Running it the past week & all is good :)

Swapped in the Hydra32 to the front tilted lights.

Current PAR numbers. Quite impressed with the spread of the new lights. The front sand bed jumped in PAR quite a bit probably because of the wider spread with the new lenses.
