i use to use my mh on a 2.5 ft, but mine 2.5 have a centre brcing so gotta shif the mh slightly to the sides, think is more than enough for 1.5ft hieght. ;)

I gotta feeling..Woo...hoo....That tonight's gonna be a good night.....That tonight's gonna be a good, good night!

i have about 3inch dsb.. so a 70watt is good enough?

if next time im using it for a taller tank, than i just need to change the bulb right?

No, u will nd to change the ballast set as well. Would strongly suggest u to go for 150W min. IMO, 70W is too weak....use it for refugium still ok.

UV protected meanin the bulb is made of UV glass to shield off those harmful UV rays. As for non UV protected = the opposite. Unlike SE bulbs DE bulbs are not UV protected. So tats y, pple gettin DE MH set always hunt for UV glass (if not included in the set). ;)

There are 2 types of person, those that chose learn n do it rite the first time and those tat chose to learn it the hard way.

i see,but SE bulbs comes with 250 and 400watts only..150 dun have SE bulb right?

what about the base RX7s-24 is this the ballast?

and regarding the 70watts if need to change to 150watts u mention that i have to change the ballast is the ballast expensive?

sorry to ask so much questions but trying to learn :)

the higher the wattage the more the heat right? ;) so if i use 2 55 watt pl lights compared to a single 150watt MH, does tt mean that the pl combi emmits more heat??

thnking of getting MH :yeah: for my 2footer <_<

Tats true....the higher wattage not only produce more heat but also cost more (in terms of PUB bills). 2x55W PL = 110W so still less heat as compared to the 150W MH. But do note tat 110W only means tat u had 55W per tube per "10inches depth penetration"= (assumption). And 2 x 55W PL doesn't mean u got "20inches depth penetration". U only get "10inches penetration" from each tube, tats all. But a single 150W MH will give u 20inches depth penetration (assumption) and the same theory applies....havin 2x150W doesn't mean havin light penetration up to 40inches of depth.

Now tat i recalled, think SE do come in 150W version. I ever bought a 250W MH set from a fella reefer here and its supposingly to be 250W bulb but the bulb kinda of shorter and smaller than the actual 250W bulb and suprisingly can be screw into the E40 holder and powered up by the 250W ballast w/o blowin the bulb  . Since its suppose to be a radium bulb but its kinda of yellowish so a check with the seller confirm its not a 250W bulb and got it changed.

A check with victron would be advisable to see if they carry 150W SE but the base shd be different, think its a E27 or E37(not sure) holder or mayb E40 holder will work too. :yeah:

The base u mentioned shd be the holder for the DE bulb, like E40 is the holder for the 250/ 400W SE bulb. Take it as u r using 250W ballast now...if u wanna up to 400W, u will nd to change the ballast. ballast are not really tat expensive....its the bulb tats $$$. :pinch:
