Probably silly question but was just curious if people tend to turn off their powerhead or cannister filter during feeding.

I always turn them off because my clown fish seems to be having difficulty eating the food when the pump is on. Their terriority happens to be very near to the outlet of the pump.

I understand from Henry from ML that it is better to feed Anthias with the powerhead or pump on to simulate their natural feeding habit and environment.

However my clown fish seems to be too slow for this and I dont have any anthias in my tank.

Lets see what the outcome will be.

In theory, will the powerhead be damaged if it is repeatedly turned on/off?

In theory, each time any engine starts, wear is at it's greatest. However, in practice it really is minimal. Can you imagine the guy who owns a Ferrari and will not switch off his engine for fear of greater wear???

Without currents, my anthias won't feed. It needs to be tricked into thinking that the frozen food is alive.

I don't bother to even use the "food timer" function on my Tunze. I like to see my fish "fly" through water to eat. more. natural? and besides, my anthias wouldn't eat the food if it sank right down infront of them. they need to be convinced that the food is actually a moving target before they move in for the kill. cute little buggers.

my purple tile also. and my tangs also. aiyah heck, all my fishes also lah.
