How often should you add salt into a reef tank?

Hi, I am quite interested to start out a nano coral tank. Right now, I just want to know how often should I add salt into the water? When I am doing water change?

Hello bro,

We don't add salt to our tank water neither do we add salt directly into the tank.

Water evaporate but salt don't. It will be good and stay within the tank.

U wanted to start a nano coral tank. Apart from tank, u will need light to support certain type of corals which require proper light to do photosynthesis. A chiller is also a must unless water temperature stays around 28degree.

Water change is recommended to do once a week of 20% but it's better if u have the time, twice a week at 10% would be strongly encouraged

A salinity meter, to measure your tank salinity will also be useful, especially when preparing salt water for water change. It's important to note that corals required a consistent salinity and parameters to survive apart from light and cooler water.

Lastly depending on the type of corals u want to keep these are just some of the very basic equipment and water testing garget required

For nano tank I will check my salinity every time I do water change.

No room for mistake especially for nano tank.

The parameter will be like roller coaster. If need to any adjustment, do it slowly.

Evaporation don't cause the salinity to drop if u have an ATO.

But skimmer will, Cause skimmer will skim out salt water if u set it to wet skim. This will cause part of the evaporation too.

For bigger tank usually don't make lot of difference because of the water vol.
