HI guys,

need some help Water is return to the display tank from my sump through a return pipe. However this return pipe is extended al the way to the base of my tank..hence if the return pump stop working, water will be suck back to the sump. I had a disaster with that as there was once i forgot to turn on the return pump and water from the main tank was suck down to the sump and my house became the beach. I understand that there is some kinda of valet that can in install into the pvc pipe so that one way flow of the water can be achieved. Do any of you guys know where i can buy this valet...also according to my uncle, he say that there is those one way valet but is make for copper pipe...can i use that...?( will copper from the pipe get into the water) Thanks all for the help..

You can drill a 1/8" hole on the return pipe. the position of the hole must be near the surface of your main tank water, so anytime when the return pump is off, the water from main tank flow back to your sump, but it will stop when the water level has reached the 1/8" hole.

Hope you will solve the small problem.

Cheers

personally, i have a hole drilled on the return pip below the water level as discussed. trust me, it works.
