i think he is talking about the eden 214 or 2XX cost around $30-$40..flow rate is 800l/h to 1000l/h.the head is self rotating but it must be cleaned once in a while to stop it from clogging up .hope this helps..or u can try a closed loop, look up more on the diy closed loops dat many reefers have done.the general opinion is that the more kind of wave making devices the better.

yea,if ur tank is small, its easy to create water currents.unlike big tanks.i think the only wave maker big tank owners can consider is the tunze, which is like almost ten times the price of the eden series.consider getting one,its quite good and considering u are buying an italian product, should be quite reliable.

Hmm...

decided against using a tunze as i saw the currents it produces

literally blows the sand all over the place.... so I'm using a Tom Dive power head to create the current, small in size, but very powerful, about 1600L/hr... even with it, my sand gets blown offf!!...

Bro,

only you know your tank best, as in which area u wan the current to be stronger and also, wat are u trying to achieve? make the corals sway or clean the sandbed or kill the dead water areas? u decide... :)

yea, marine fishkeeping is all about trial and error.bigger mistake=better and faster learning..hehehe,jokes aside, well different tanks have diff. conditions that needs to be satisfied.there is no sure way of solving ur problem.but actually u can try the swcd(spelt correctly?) as it actually creates opposite flow at different intervals.u can buy it at eaquanature.costs arnd $120.

Bro,

would recommend that u have a powerhead in the centre at the back glass panel of the tank and point it towards the glass panel in front where the sandbed is, the current would bounce off the front glass panel downwards and clean ur sandbed... Presto! :)

hmm if i were to use it to make the sandbed clean...

then where should i place it??? slightly above the sandbed???

the sand bed cannot totally be cleaned, placing a powerhead inches above ur sandbed will be ugly, not mentioning the sand will be sucked in,shortening the lifespan of the powerhead.it will also blow up alot of sand and all the detritus that have already settled.believe me,u would'nt want to see that.IMO,the only way to keep ur sandbed clean is to siphon it when u are doing ur regular maintanence.just my two cents worth! :)

put the powerhead inside the rocks facing outside mah... but not to bury it too deep in the rocks, very hard to take out for servicing, it's better you plan your water flow pattern while setting up the tank, and tink of spots where the water will be dead... and try to solve it early... of not, in the later stage, you got headache... :)

i actually started with a tiny 2 footer arnd 3 years ago.i had a 900l/h powerhead near the top of my tank and water circulation is quite good.i think u should consider eden(for the price) or swcd(for the nearly invisibility of the unit).

may i know what brand is swcd ?? any website about that powerhead?

Can try Maxijets, one of the best powerheads. Just place 2 on the opposite corner of the tank and blow against each other to create random current. Should be enough flow cos ur tank is only 2 ft ;)

back to studies and reefing again..
