Today i was told my ah beng shop that if i used thier natural seawater to cycle new tank it will take about 3 days only.. he says after putting in the water and rocks wait for 3 days then can add fish because the water itself already contain bacteria.. is this true? I have been feeding the tank with flake and frozen mysis. I have dead rock and nsw in the tank currently. So is it true that using nsw can add fish after 3 days?

Yes nsw contain bacteria but depending as well how long the nsw has been stored and how they stored it as well which may cause the bacteria to die over time.

It can only be possible to shorten your new tank cycling process provided that you are using back old filter media, sand and rocks which has already been colonise with bacteria previously else it is still safer to do a full cycling again and check the water parameter.

Nitrifying bacteria is established on live rock over time, not free floating in the water.

Natural sea water may contain crap you don't want in your tank.

Patience is key in this hobby, don't make shortcuts, do a proper cycle of the tank, otherwise you'll lose your fish and your money.
