Hi

Can u get a Blue Squamie is S'pore?

Only if singapore market can fit the huge clam loads.. and only if singaporean can step out of their mentality that clam may cost more than $100 unlike those common $20 for one kind

Hi,

100 sin dollar is not much for the real nice Clams.

In S'pore clams are much cheaper than most other places cause of the low freight charges.

Did any of you saw a Blue Squamie in S'pore???

:o

nah clam are much cheaper cos we dun get the nice ones

Anthias,

I saw some of the Clams you guys posted and they're awsome.

Roidan got some excellent Croceas, also other members have really nice Clams.

The thing is that for example, most of the Croceas are coming from Vietnam, freight from Vietnam to S'pore is way cheaper than freight from Vietnam to USA or Europe.

Freight rate is THE key factor in the price of the Clam (or fish/corals).

For the Blue Squamies, they have much higher pricing than S$100.00.

I wonder if any of those Blue Squamies arrived to Singapore, as S'pore is so close to most of the clam collecting origins.

Yup but you have to understand... The eurpoean side are willing to fork out more money to get those clams.. thus naturally the clam supplier would turn to them, giving the europeaN side better grade clams.... FYI, latest news is that the european side have increase their money to get those ultra clams thus bad news for us.... We may have no more nice clams already...

Anyway if you think some of our clams are nice, den i think you haven see those clam from the european side ;););) Our are like puny compare to them....

Oh ya FYI, IMO most of our crocea do not come from vietnam but in fact else where if i am not wrong....

Most croceas are coming from Vietnam, even though many importers like to say otherwise cause it was not long ago that many Vietnam clams shipments had very high mortality rates due to wrong collecting methods.

I think that last year or more they improved drastically.

They do ship also Squamies and Max, many Tear drop max are from there and also the Green and Blue TD.

Last time I've been to S'pore was November and I got 2 really nice Croceas, in a grade that can face any of Solomon Islands croceas.

Europeans, let's say Germans, are paying 3 times up to 10 times more for their Clams, they might get some nice ones, but I dont think that there are not nice Clams in S'pore (unless situation's changed since last time I was there).

If you look at Electric croceas, S'pore has it.

If you look at special croceas look at Roidan's, I never seen croceas like he got.

If you look at Max, so I admit, I didnt see to many in S'pore, but I'm only a tourist, you guys can find more.

If ya look at the Heavy weights, like Blue Squamies and Color TD....I heard they're taking the first class seats to Japan :D

If i am not wrong... the source for vietnam tear drops was discover not long.... IMo vietnam tear drops are not the really so call fantastic, true fantastic tear drops are from else where... There used to be one farm here who ship tear drops, most are lightly coloured by once in a while you can find ultra tears.(bro roidan has one)...

Agreed that singapore may have quite nice crocea but the really nice clam are not crocea but in fact it is maxima.... And singapore dun have many of tat..... The only worth to look maxima shipment was ship by one of our lfs last year... If i am not wrong 80% are ultra pohnpei maxima.. But now he decide not to bring them in anymore eventhough he still has the source... Reason are singapore market too small.... Typical singaporean thinking(being a tourist, you wun understand the mentality of sinagporean here, i dun blame them as we are raise this way) and lastly oversea are offering very nice price... So therefore now all his maxima are transfer to oversea....

In US, most of the Tear Drops are from Vitenam.

I visited one of LAX biggest importer and saw hundreds of Tear Drops, very few had color, all were from Vitenam.

For the Croceas, we both agree S'pore had them.

For the Singaporeans, I've been to Singapore more than 30 times, so I know it better than the average tourist.

The phonpei clams are really nice, but if you look at US wen sites you'll see they dont have very high demand due to bad rep, so their prices are going down.

If I were you, I'd use SRC to gather phone number and contacts of people who wants Max clams and go to the 2-3 more serious importers and ask them to import.

If the demand is there, believe me they will import it.

Dont forget that Singapore is the base of some of the largest Marine wholesellers in the world!

You should'nt under estimate S'pore.

Hmm..... can i ask why their price are going down........ Thought ultra maxima price is always high and stable.....

Hmm i have been doing that trying to gather ppls number so that we can make a importer have the excuse to bring them in.... In fact i have already found someone who is willing to bring ultras in(hurray) but he just haven got the source... hey do you know of any reliable source for ultra maxima... mind letting me know cos i am also helping that person who is willing to bring those clam to find the reliable source for clam too..... Hmm hopefully, the dreaded disease happening this few months dun deter ppl from getting more clams :lol::lol:

Anthias,

I feel the prices of the Phonpei are going down cause of the bad reputation they received.

In the last couple of years there were reports of some fouled Phonpei shipments.

Many people now are afraid to put these clams in their tanks.

For the Blue Suq,ie in the pic.

It will most probably color up.

Can you get those in S'pore?????????

If so, let me know when and where...I'm there dude! :D
