Bro, go for DVD writer +/- lar. Pioneer one is good. Less than $300 already.

Well, now most manufacturers want to yeild high profits so have to make their products at the cheapest place.

not sure where they r made but for DVD i get also no use. movies i watch n den delete them. unless u mean for storage purposes...

oh yes, plextor is good stuff. realli pricey...but i guess for mp3 cd i tink i will make do with the basics...

more than 1 yr liao. got power but the computer cant detect e disk and also reinstal driver also no use. give up...

DVDr - 4G

There r a couple of diff Dvdr formats, do some readup b4 u invest in one.(*.if u intend to burnt stuff from yr Dvd writer and to use it on other Dvd players.)

Dvd is cheap now. You can burn your DV video and get DVD quality pictures.

IMHO dvd-rom/rw isnt that useful for those that dun really go into video/gaming stuffs...

For those users that juz need rw for the sake of juz burning songs/vcd/data...cd-rw is rather good enough for most...

Furthermrore the standard speed for an average cd-rw is already 48x32x48 (as compared to DVD fastest speed being 16x for dvd-rom and 8x for dvd-rw in sg)

Anyway in the market now TDK is quite stable...but if got the money can go for plenfex (dunnoe spell correct not), heard that the review is quite good for that brand.

I don't like Sony because I have both the CD and DVD writer which gave me unless problems.

The plus side for Sony DVD writers is that they write in both DVD+RW and DVD-RW format.
