Need advise on fanworm

Hi all, im pretty new to marine tanks. Need some advise on my fan worm cause im not sure if it is dead. It has not been coming out for a few weeks (or it came out when i was not there). It used to be quite active when i just got it. But recently it just seemed to have disappeared and the entrance is sort of 'closed up' like in the picture. Could it be dead? If so, do i need to remove the whole rock to prevent pollution?

My worms do this too, close for a few days sometimes. Several possible causes though - It might either be spooked, or flow too strong, etc.

You can try to take a look at night with a flashlight to see if it's out.

Oh..i just saw that a bit of it came out from the other opening..so its not dead..

It finally came out. But much smaller than before..did it shed its crown and regrow a new one?

That's good! Leave it alone now & it should be ok... Sometimes they shed their crown when under stress. Good thing is yours didn't leave its tube!

Check your nitrate and phosphate. Mine hid for quite a while due to poor eater conditions.
