intending to go overseas to study

I may be going overseas to study next year...in particular Australia for those interested.

my mum said I can teach her on how to maintain the tank, but judging from the fact that she can't lift one pail of water without breaking her back, I'm quite apprehensive on that.

damn. should I give up? and start selling now? or should I try my best to teach my mother and hope she doesn't foul up?

Really depends on how long u will be gone...if for 3 years or more, is it practical to maintain? U can always start new tank overseas...

If really passionate and family support, then can continue to maintain...

Choice is yours, man... ;)

I agree that its difficult to have a long distance relationship with your reef tank... ask Tanzy and he'll sob on your shoulder.

Just ask yourself if you can ever educate your mum to learn about their needs and how to deal with emergencies and whether she has the passion to make sure that all your reef tank inhabitants are 100% ok and prospering for the 3 years you are gone.

Chances are.... she'll throw in the towel. :(

Sorry dude... it seems you have a difficult choice and we can't really answer that for you.

3 years you are gone.

eh how come you know I doing three year course. :P

actually four and a half years...plus the diploma thing I'm taking before going to Monash.

urh.

sigh. and to think I wanted to get a black tang this june. =(

guess I'll have to start selling it off when the time comes...say end of this year or something.

reef keeping is a bout passion for this hobby

i mean u cant force a person to love this hobby

and more to cant teach a complete clueless person in a short time to learn about it

reef keeping is a long life learning thing

if i m not wrong yr mum is busy wif her own things

my advice is sell the thing while u r away

when u come back u can always start again

cheers dude
