IOS Filtration Flowrate - High or Low?

Hi guys, just wanna know if you guys have an experience with a high or low flow rate for an IOS filtration. Currently on a 800L/hr on a 30-35L tank. It's my own source of flow for now, I am adding a wave maker to tank, was wondering if I should reduce the flow rate to achieve a higher efficiency of biological filtration. I have no protein skimmer and am using medias for filtration, with very regular water change.
