Planning a mixed reef/macro algae tank

Hi everyone,

My new house and new tank are finally on the way.

New tank is 5.5x2.5x2. Sump is 4ft. Lighting should be 2 x razor 300w. Current tank is a 3ft for about 3yrs already. Mix reef.

Just wonder if anyone setup main tank with lots of macro algae and some LPS/SPS? I saw photos online and seems natural and beautiful.

Any type of macro algae that I should avoid?

Looking forward to a new journey in reefing! Fresh and Marine has a tank like that, called a lagoon tank. If u don't want an algae that invades quickly, avoid cauperla. Once it goes sexual, it will spread very quickly. All the best in your new tank!

Your should avoid hair algae and cyno algae .. just joking..

It can be a challenge to get hold of variety of marine plant available for your NPS with marine planted setup due to shipment here as there isn't much variety to choose from. However having a dedicated NPS tank of this size would be awesome

Hair algae isn't too bad. My fox face loves it. I harvest from my refugium and then feed it to the Fox Face.

Other than Coral Farm, which LFS has a variety of macro algae?

Henry from marine life at Clementi has a variety in his store. Also I think you can consult bro CKS. He has a macro algae tank thread
