What is the best salinity for a mix reef with fishes? When my salanity is about 1.020 my torch coral opens up until very big but when I raise the salanity to 1.025, I noticed that the torch coral does not opens up as well as when the salanity is at 1.020

How are you measuring your salinity? (eg. Swing arm hydrometer or optical refractometer)

I'm suspecting that the tool you are using is inaccurate. For most reefers, ~1.025 specific gravity is perfect for mixed reef.

I would say the swing arm hydrometer is inaccurate , what you can do is get water from a good source , sea water or water from LFS or a reefer friend . Measure it with the hydrometer and check the reading , if it reads 1.020 then you should mix your salt water or dilute your tank water to to the same reading.

Alternatively you can get a calibrated refractometer and use it to measure.

Yes, good to have a refractometer to ensure accurate reading. I have been running my mixed reef at 1.23 SG. I got mine from ebay at around $50 and make sure it is a reliable seller which have sold at least a 100 pieces.
