SRC Member Macateer Posted December 18, 2015 SRC Member Share Posted December 18, 2015 Suspect they will eventually die. Using rowaphos to reduce phosphate. Could this be the reason? SRC Member tuajia Posted December 19, 2015 SRC Member Share Posted December 19, 2015 I just used the Kent line of supplements. But disclaimer, my chaeto still isn't doing great, perhaps my light isn't good enough as well. I'm just using a cheapo 3w aquazonic light. kohanson
My cheato also failed the first time. It was quite messy as it broke down and went to my pump. My lightings are from 11.30pm to 7am. Think i bought too strong par38 grow light at 21w. Lol. Now my sump have only live rocks with a coral banded shrimp and a turbo snail to clear up the algae on the glass and rocks. Mine too, small traces of chaeto strips dislodged from "mothership" and going everywhere in my display and sump. Some get stuck in my wavemaker and return pump. Very messy... kohanson
Yes! My refugium area is around 1ft I guess. I tried using a sponge to prevent the flow of the cheato to the pump but it became a chore to remove the cheato from the sponge. So I guess I will try again when my tank is more mature. Just want to breed some copepods in the sump. My pods are currently breeding well in a small HOB refugium with a bit of caulerpa and galaxia macroalgae inside. Likely eaten by my 3 wrasse and mandarin. Thinking of growing some macro algae in the refugium since it looks quite plain with live rocks and a small bunch of chaeto. noted.
