Cheap and efficient Protein Skimmer

I don't have a sump, So only way is to put the to be skimmer in my aquarium. If your recommendation for weipro then how should I place skimmer and the poerhead/pump?

Just hang the weipro outside ur tank and put the powerhead inside the tank.

The weipro is a hangon. The pump will be in the tank, with the weipro hanging on the glass. It does not hang over a bracing.

If I were to get weipro 2011 model, wat would be the powerhead flowrate to choose? Hope u can suggest. Thanks

I think you should follow the recommended flowrate on the box. I did'nt use a 2011 b4..so I'm not sure of the flowrate. But I used to have a 2013 running on a 1200l/hr PH. So most likely the flowrate you should be using should be below 1000l/hr. Just check the box.

how long does a new weipro starts to skim? i'm using 2012 on 1200L/HR pump. 3 days already still not skimming.

Ur water level is too low. Adjust it till the black ring. Ur pump seems to be underpower also. Try a 2500l/h or more pump.

I just think its crap for skimmer not to package with pump.. Why must they do that? How many cases have we seen regarding people not knowing what powered pump and in the end have to sell off existing pumps to upgrade..

what powerhead you are using? how many L/HR??

2400L/hr powerhead full blast, throttle weipro water outlet to 1/2 inch before cup. I find out when I increase my sicce extrema output from 600L/hr to maximum 2400L/hr the amount of air bubbles inside the weipro increases due to the venturi effect ###### in the air thus more cold chocolate or after a few days, become kopi O'.

Thats the reason why I purchase the sicce extrema, cos it allows me to adjust my flow rate :-)

ya lor.. i using 1200l/hr pump for my 2011, also very little skimmate only.. whereas my fren uses 2200l/hr on 2011, less than one hr got skimmate le...

What I did was to raise the water level to the top of the black ring initially. After that I lower it to the lower part of the black ring. You should get dark kopi or kopi o in days.

Hey, my friend bought a skimmer less than $100, even come together with a pump. It's Atman brand.

Heard that it's skimming well with kopi-O too. But the size is big.
