What size of Skimmer do I need?

Hi,

I have a 2x2x2 display tank and 2x2 sump. What size of skimmer do I need? 

What are the minimum spects it should have?

Do I need an additional pump?

I have a bm c7 skimmee for mine, same size as urs. Nt sure if overkill or not, but it comes with pump.

I always feel a over kill skimmer is a better option

Go for big skimmers! as long it can fit in ur sump, it's all gd.

Hi maybe you can advise how's your tank set up ?

It is heavily or lightly stock ?

Reef Octopus BH 1000 spec stated ,

Well Stocked Tank - Rated up to 55 gallons

Medium Stocked Tank - Rated up to 75 gallons

Light Stocked Tank - Rated up to 100 gallons

I also using reef octopus bh 1000 it working fine for my 3 feet ! All i can say is nice and effective skimmer

Last time was considering reef octopus bh1000 or the bubble magus e5 in the end went with the E5 so far so good.

You can try Skimz SM 121 or SM 163 depending on your sump's space ! I'm using 121 myself and its drawing out a good load of junk

Firstly calculate your total water volume then you will be able to find suitable size skimmer base on the slimmer spec. It is good to get an oversized one in case the bioload increases over time
