Kalkwasser drip

just made this drip-box to drip kalkwasser

used a air-tube valve n a betta box

cost less than $10

time taken: 2mins

Metal valve! do you consider changing to a plastic one?

things you need:

1) drill

2) small plastic box for keeping betta fish

3) one way metal valve

4) one tube of silicone gel

drill e small hole, make sure the size is enuff to screw the valve in easily....

then silicone it to your tank n voila!!!!

cool...its a simple yet useful device....no need to mix kalkwasser everyday n its cheap!

Dun mind me commenting. Ur air tube is drilled on the base of the holder? IF so, u might have a problem with the residue from ur kalk solution. Normally, we will let the Kalk mix settle for a while b4 start dripping to avoild getting the residue into the main tank. Maybe u can drill a hole like 3" above the base on the side instead.

juz sharing, if u find it a hassle to diy it. u can always buy a ready made diy kalk dripper from our sponsor bio ocean. very cheap. think is abt $5.

Erm to correct the dripper.

The valve is not right as it should be higher.. Not right at the bottom.

Also you need to cover the container and not let it open ...expose to air..

Firstly the valve is at the wrong position. Being too low, the residue will also be dripped, which is not the recommended case. We should only drip the clear portion.

Secondly, the valve is metal which is also not recommended for marine tanks. Saltwater will corrode the metal.

thanks for all your useful advice guys...i'll extend the drip so that it is dripping the clear solution n still finding a plastic valve....by the way there is a cover on the box....

May be this one is a better version since it has cover and the valve is made of plastic and it is higher in position!
