Hi Guys,

I'm going to start on a project to diy moonlight for my tank. Will like to encourage fellow reefers to post their diy moonlight and its results. Need some inspiration before I start.

I'll be using Ultra Blue LEDs and did a dry run on my tank and realised that the blue leds will create some rays of blue ligths that is aestactically beautiful.

Cheers

JC

Can share ur tank pic with the Ultra Blue LED on? Need some inspiration now. hehe

ryz, I will have to ensure that I got mine right 1st b4 even considering helping other reefers. Will keep you update on my process. ;) IF you use white LED, wun it affect ur corals and fishes since moonlight are normally bluish?

ben, I have been reading up on a few of the amercian forum and conclusion is that moonlight's spectrum are between 470nm and 480nm. However, when I go down to sim lim tower, many of the shops are not able to tell me the actual spectrum of the LEDS. In the end, bought the Ultra Blue LED at $1.50 for a pair.

Cheers

The ultra bright white led should be rated at 6500k colour temperature, dont know about the wavelenght. if i am not wrong, the ultra bright white led is made of mini metal halide that why it very expensive. As for blue, yet to find out the colour temperature and wavelenght, hope can share some info with all reefer.

I found this LED seems to be closes to moonlight in term of spectrum (470nm - 480nm). However, not sure where is selling them.
