Hi,

Guy, manage to snap some shots of the chiller which I mentioned few days back. Bascially, my cousin approach this shop and tell them about the requirement and it only cost him around $400. Anyway it is a ½ HP Chiller. But you can order to meet you specific requirement.

If you look at the U shape bar ( the chilling bar), it is actually made of copper but dip into a molten PVC to give a coating that acts as a protection layer as copper is extreme harmful to the invertebrates. I have the address, but I’m also worry that posting the address here may cause a sudden hike in demand which indirectly causes the price to go up subsequently. Any suggestion?

Hmm ............ realise that this forum is actually quite open in this aspect. I believe that it is only right that I open this avenue to everyone here and let the market demand determine the price :D

Blk 14 Houhang Ave 7

The workshop is nearer to the LHS of the building (dealing with refrigerator), either the second or third one.

the thermal coefficent of PVC isnt high enough for efficent coolings, you will be wasting alot of electricity .... :o

I believe it is possible to customed made to your requirement, be it titanium coil or higher HP. I feel that what most important is the contact as preference differs. Those interested, why not just pay them a visit and see what they can offer?

2 cents worth . :D

Oh! btw, duuno why I am unable to login from hm. So do expect a slow reply if any

PVC coated copper is very risky to use in a reef tank as i tmay not give you a perfect seal. Over time the copper may leach out and you find ur tank not doing very well. It will not be a sudden kill off of inverebrates but general deterioration of health leading to mortalities.

For those planning to get the DIY ask them to use 316 stainless steel instead or titanium if they can.

Not bad... ehh... DIY drop-in chiller. Got LED indicator some more... looks good.

What's the coolant use? What's the wattage like? Should be efficient like a fridge..

What's the advantages of drop-in over pass through chiller?

I almost want a drop-in chiller cos I hate plumbing and the additional powerhead that comes with it.

Can share a bit more on details like:

What's the coolant use?

Chiller operation time per day, with tank spec.

thank you

It is using gas, and behave exactly like a refrigerator.

My observation for dipped in is that the running time is very much shorter but more frequent as compare to flow through

I believe it will be cheaper than flow thru type! Look @ your electricity bill for your refrigerator...it is fairly economy. In any case the CUT THROAT Chiller price tag by LFS warrant a try?

In any case, thanks for the great info,

Pet

Hi All, in December 2002 I bought 2 aquarium chiller for my 3 & 4ft Tank, which cost less then S$1,000 for 2 sets. My electricity bills have gone up a little for the month of January like about S$15.00

Hi NormanH,

How BIG is your TANK? CL650 is 1/4HP and they have CL300 1/10 HP. I think this guys i know is selling cheap. As other Fish shop sell is selling about S$680 for CL650, which i only bought at S$480/Set and CL300 at S$380/ for my 3 ft tank.

He also have MH light at S$320 for single light and Double light for S$640 (i wanted to buy, but no stock. New stock only arrival in about 2 months from Europe)
