Get T5s instead. You'll be pleased with it. T5 runs much cooler than MH yet produces very good lighting output and with longer lifespan too (saving you money for the long term).

For the bulbs, get 2 ATI Aquablue Special or suplement it with ATI Actinic Blue. I bought my retrofits and bulbs from Edmund of eaquanature.com.

I think T5's are still reasonably cheaper than MHs for the long term. You won't need a chiller, better spend that money to get a good skimmer instead.

I don't entirely agree... it depends on whether or not you want to DIY or buy off the shelf, my DIY 250W MH cost me about 200 bucks... cheaper than DIY T5s with the same wattage I think...

Not to mention MH has the water shimmering effect.. but that's just personal preference...

Oh and I'm not running a chiller either...

Wow, then you must be running ur aircon 24hrs or topping up 3L of water per day.
