Xtrader, thanks for the sell and opportunity to view (Wow) your tank in person yesterday.

Enjoy your setup experiences and glad you clear my doubts.

Uask4it, Nice meeting you.

Yes, I must agree with you.

We cannot simply be a lazy reefer at the expense of a living thing.

We must treat our reefs as a pet and reef responsibly.

You brought in another interesting topic.

Should we do regular water change with no or little dosing or do lesser water change with more dosing?

I think I shall go for regular water change and less dosing for now, I might change my idea next time.

If I can, I would like to do less water change with minimum or no dosing.

I learnt the hard way to do weekly 10-20% water changes with less dosing, and rmb to do some tests before u dose! Even w regular changes your paras can rise n drop to less ideal levels.

You'll see the diff with less dosing n more water changes! :)

Thanks for the advice, what are the bare minimum(para) that we need to test for a mix reef?

Well nitrate and nitrite levels need to be as Low as possible, nitrite if possible close to 0. Dkh, calcium,mg and iodine need to be maintained is what I learnt. After awhile you'll kinda 'automatically' know when to and not to dose lol. I'm no expert but that's what I've learnt and seems to b working out fine for me :)

Wow, After all the set up, before it has run the nitrogen cycle, I have decided to decom this tank!

The reason is the chiller is making too much noise and creating heat in the living room.

The noise is affecting my wife's voice over recording and I generally does not like the heat.

So, I decided to build a 4 tiered tank at my service yard instead.

It will comprises of a top up tank on top.

Followed by a frag tank, below it will be the main tank and the bottom is the sump.

This will be like a LFS set up without any fancy laminate, anyway it is at the service yard.
