A Lazy Man's Tank

Tank: My new tank will be 3.5Ft x 2.5Ft x 20 inches with a 2.5Ft sump. Front side with Crystal Glass.

Lightings: 2 x Hydra 26 HD and 1 x A80 Kessil.

AP600 Skimmer, Mini Reactor for GFO.

Here are some of the dry run for my rockscape.

Finally tank delivered!

Made a mistake, chose the wrong laminated.

The wood grain is too much, prefer a more subtle grain.

I chose from a small piece of sample, who gave a wrong representation.

I did a very unusual overflow box.

The overflow box is standing 6 inches from the back and the side of the tank.

So that I can hide my wavemaker and frag station behind the overflow box

Another unusual things I did was to glue support glass on the tank's wall.

This glasses is for holding the rocks, so that it will give a floating effect.

My rock scape "floating" on the glass.

When fully done it should look good.

Currently you don't see the "floating because some piece are temporarily supporting for the glueing process.

I'm not a fan of big and massive equipment.

I try to keep it as simple as possible.

Only have a small skimmer and a reactor

Has been doing these in my past 3 tanks.

Either I glue it on the glass itself or through magnet.

This time around, I add a "T" glass support, so that I can put heavier rocks.

This weekend I'm going to cycle my tank but only have maximum 2 weeks to do so.

And I need to transfer my stocks from the old to the new tank thereafter.

You think is safe to do that?With just 2 weeks of cycle?

Is there any better and safer way to quickly transfer the tank?

Check out EvolutionZ's tank thread, he performed a transfer of livestock during rescape.. great details on his thread but the key takeaways are:

seeding the new rock with bac from existing tank either by adding some rocks or filter media from existing tank to your new system during cycling. Also can consider adding some water from existing tank to new.

during transfer minimize the time the rocks are out of the water to minimize bac & other organisms die-off, minimizing ammonia spike & maximizing bac survival so that they can continue doing their 'thing' in your new tank
