Less feeding too.. But to my experience, 8hrs of lights and reduce ur feeding, water change and get some inverts like snail or sea hare can help..

I assume your tank has already finished its cycling?  How old is the tank?

What is your Phosphate and Nitrate readings?

What inhabitants do you have in your tank and what is your feeding regime?

What CUC do you have?

What type of filtration system do you have?

Hi DottyClown,

My Tank is already cycled and it's 3 months old.I have a 2.5ft X 1.5ft X 1.5ft with side IOS filtration system with Skimz SH-1 skimmer.The residents are 1 BT,YT,Flame,Majestic & six line.I usually feed them with pallets in the day time & frozen mysis at night.Nitrate level is around 20 and 0 for ammonia.

Hi Martin, could you try to post a close up photo of the algae in your sandbed.  Need to be a clear photo.

Did you aim the wavemaker down to help increase the flow at the bottom?

Maybe you can also try add a Diamond Goby, see if it helps.

Is there sunlight during the day that shines to your tank ? Sunlight is the worst that causes algae .

You can also scoop out day by day portion by portion then top up with new sand to see if it helps .

DottyClown I did not aim my wave maker at the sandbed to prevent a sand storm as my wave is strong enough to create current to the sandbed though.Maybe i will get 2 diamond gobies to try.

Silicate can be one of the contributor to ur brown algae broom..

wat u using for WC?

did u use DI water for WC? Goby can only helps temporary but u need to find out the root of the cause...

R u running any FR with rowas? Cheato or ATS?
