Made something with a laser cutter to elevate the height of the LED and also to hold the mangrove in place. This also provides more flexibility for the placement of the light.

Also gotten a beautiful new fan worm and Gracilaria looking macro from Iwarna over the weekend!

Can't believe the positive effect the colour of the light has on the macros, I think my old cheapo LED could be the reason why the purple macro was turning yellow. Should have invested in aquarium rated light long ago :D

lol oh no, i wouldnt want urchin, tang, angelfish and snail which feed on the macro  in the refugium, unless the macros are growing faster than being consumed B)

Hi CKS, I understand that you have a seahorse in your tank. So it's possible to keep seahorse without a chiller considering that your tank can go up to 31 degrees?.

Mind sharing the species of your seahorse?

Hi Sleexox,

No more seahorses, my tank is not suitable after all. One of them 'died by wavemaker', another became too stress and developed gas bubble. Some others got harassed by the fishes. I've decided not to take the risk again, at least not with the current species in the current setup.

Here are the photos update for the month of Nov.

181106-200828-05.jpg

181106-200711-10.jpg

And so I have jumped into the dark side of coral keeping. No idea how it will work out in this warm tropical tank without a chiller. A rock of hitchhiker mushrooms that have been in my tank since the beginning seems to be doing well. So I thought why not grow a Yuma/Ricordea garden on top of the seaweed garden. The Yuma/Ricordeas were added about 2 months ago and the Pulsing Xenia was introduced recently. So far so good, except for one of the Yuma which has 'turned white'.

181106-194051-05.jpg

Gotten a beautiful new orange sponge recently, didnt have much luck with the blue, the yellow sponge which has been in the tank for over 3-months is still alive and doing well!

181106-194411-02.jpg

The Mangrove is finally able to stand on its own without any artificial support, thanks to its overgrown roots and the Blue Ochtodes.

181106-195946-01.jpg

181106-200014-06.jpg

Tiny fanworms started sprouting on the sandbeds!

180823-193644-09.jpg

The C.Prolifera is dominating the sandbed fast as well. And this Banggai cardinal has decided to make this leafy forest its shelter.

181106-195753-10.jpg

And some more photos of the inhabitants

Found at least 5 mini brittle starfishes while replanting the Ochtodes macros to spread their growth. These guys are really good at multiplying!

They are now in the Mini stars husbandry ready for sale :D

Amazing! So far the best marine planted aquarium I’ve seen to date! & that gigantic orange sponge is really impressive!! How do you sustain it? Via feeding or just photosynthesis?

nice scaping of your macros too, that giant ochtodes rock is something which we don’t see everyday

Thanks JMW! There are 2 major sponges which I've no idea the exact species and their requirements, so i'm doing a variety of things such as dosing silica, dosing carbon and feeding phytoplankton every once in a while!
