hi guys,

I was quoted a very tempting deal on the above camera. Come with strobe, a 3X close up lens, the camera n housing of cos. And the price ? Well, cheap enuff to drool.. ;)

But its film based, beside using for diving, can't do much. And have been thinking what can I use it for on dry land. I have my SLR and P&S DC for dry land. Won't be using this Reefmaster for it.

Should I be better off spending 3x more getting an olympus digital camera with housing or go for this ?

Any comments from people who use Reefmaster before ? Is the quality as good as its advertised ? :erm:

I really really strongly recommend you go digital.

You can shoot and shoot and be limited to just battery life and memory card space!

With film... you have to be super experienced and know all your settings for the perfect shot because you have only 36 chances. Or is it 24?

You can't change film underwater too... but on the boat or on land, you can download or swop memory card!

You can review and delete lousy pix! Even underwater! ;)

Convinced yet?

Well, I did consider that. I have not tried shooting more than 36 shots at one dive haha. :P

The thing that grip me is the price. Imagine the Olympus combination will cost 3x more and without a strobe!

This comes with everything even with a pelican case throw in.

And someone did say, buy cheap try it first, if don't like it or underwater photography not your kind, can still dispose it with a minor loss. But if buy expensive, erm... then will be damn heart pain.

Sigh.. think i will use my weekend in Dayang to think about it.....

norman,

It is indeed a extremely tempting price... i was talking to my fiancee abt it.. Even the one without strobe.. Guess what she said to me.. U very rich hor.. buying so much stuff at a time.. BUT.. she did agree with me that it is a good deal.

Just remember this, a 35mm film is abt 30 megapixels...(quoted from the person who tried to sell us the cam).. thus the pic is definitely richer in color definition...

If u want, get it... then we can try it on the trip.. show me the quality and then maybe i get it myself.. hahaha :D

Get Portabin (with LCD to view photos) or Portabin-X from Ranger.

A storage device on the move. You can put in your memory card and it will store it. Storage from 10GB ($398) to 40GB ($$$). Small and portable.

Now you can take more photos.
