Hi all, juz got my new 3 feet tank and it came with liveorcks dat has already been cured. The rocks came however in a styrofoam box, so it was left without saltwater for a few hours...

My question is: After testing the water dat has been running for 2 days, i discovered that the no2 level is almost zero... do I still need to throw in a market prawn to induce ammonia?

yes, u still have to cycle <_<

But if you tame me, we shall need each other.

It is always better to cycle longer, even if you are confident that the cured LR is 'fresh'. Give it time for the bacteria count to increase first as there will still be minute dieoffs somehow.

But if its cured LR, you have a much shorter cycle.

The key to safety is SLOW stocking.... again to allow the bacteria enough time to cope.
