Sea snails dying

Hi does anybody have this problem too? My turbo snails usually die after 2 to 3 months in my tank. But all other fishes and corals are still alive and healthy.

Maybe your tank is too clean without algae that it starve to death.

Can't be, there's tons of algae. I don't know if there's something toxic that they are eating

Check your nitrate level? They are sensitive to nitrate level

Or maybe copper in the water? Snails cannot tahan copper apparently. Shrimps and crabs are still ok with a small amount of copper.

Are you running any activated carbon?

Sorry to hijack thread, but does anyone know why Astraea snails stop moving? They are still sucking on to the glass, but their mouths aren't moving.(as in when it's eating algae as it moves along)

my nitrates are about 7ish

Snails lifespan are effy imho. You could also have hitch hikers such as gorilla crabs or mantis shrimps, these hitch hikers love snails and clams.

Last but not least watch your salinity and temperature as usual.

Hmm.. if it is still sucking on glass it is alive. However often I found them dying a few days later. Thats my observation

Hmm, that's what happened to mine also. He stuck to the filter for 2 days then suddenly next day my skunk cleaner was happily picking out the remains from the shell. Mine was probably nitrate problem though. Strangely my normal turbo snail is unaffected

Seems they are really quite sensitive.. Mine didn't make it. Another astrea followed suit. Strangely my spiny astrea is still moving ard like a bulldozer

Sorry to hear that. Just have to keep buying until you have a few strong ones left. Try some turbo snails and nassirius snails also.

Yup thanks. My nassirius are going strong too, only the Astrea were the ones which died suddenly after two months of being in the tank

I have had 2 turbo snails randomly die off as well, even though the rest of my corals, fishes and even fellow turbo snails are perfectly fine
