Hey guys, here are details of the 2 current reef setups that I'm working with.

Both reefs are with

Lightings 6 x 39 watts ATI Sunpower

Tube configuration

Blueplus

Coralplus

Blueplus

Blueplus

Coralplus

Blueplus

Filtration (Same as both reefs are plumbed to a central sump)

Deltec MCE 300 skimmer (mechanical)

Livetocks / ceramic rings (biological)

Lanthanum chloride solution (chemical)

Customed build Calcium reactor to maintain Ca/kH.

The main reef is a 3 by 2 by 1.5 footer SPS dominated system.

The secondary is a 3 by 2 by 1 footer shallow mixed system comprising mainly of zoas, palys and non acroporids.

And here are pictures of both setups.

Sorry i mean nice

Thanks Bro ! Btw, the matted filefish did a excellent job clearing up the aips in the SPS reef !

Very nice!

Could you share more about your custom built calcium reactor & feeding/supplement regime?

Subzero, the CR is a old unit built years ago. Did some repair work before it's usable.

Don't feed much as most fishes are functional ones... they sustain themselves by either grazing from the rockwork or feed on pods.

Nice tank.

algaes all gone!

doesnt the lanthanum chloride affect the fishes?

There are reefers who claim that tangs under the zebrasoma genus are particularly susceptible to the micron sized precipitates... did not experience any of that thru my years of usage. However, to be safe, I'll apply insump rather than display.

Nice setup, bro.

Thanks Bro !!

Will do !! Do dropby and chat over reefing matters when you have time ;)

can show your central sump pix?

It's messy so no pictures. it's a simple sump. Just that it feeds 2 reefs.

TOTM! :D

Thank Bro. But really, there are many local reefs out there that are better looking and maintained compared to what is seen here. These truly deserve the title. :D

More pictures from the Mixed Reef.

Fijian Pipe Organs

Will be using these as ground cover. Hope they develop fast enough and soon I'll have a section of the reef looking like a flowerbed.

And giving some attention to the SPS dominated reef, here's the purple Montipora capricornis that's decided against it's original growth formation and went encrusting instead. :erm:

Specimen has already covered a 4 inch zone. Think I'll soon have a Montipora ground bed.

awesome tanks bro!

Thanks Bro flamey !

Nice supersun. Wat do u feed it, bro?

I'm working on a 2 to 3 times per week target feeding of

frozen mysis. Might revert to regular broadcast feeding of 5 to 50 micron reef pearls coupled with PolypLab Polyp Booster. And maybe some frozen cyclopreeze.

Big and fat supersuns bro! I noticed you place them under some shade, do they do better under subdued lighting?

Since Supersuns are non-photosynthetic corals and they get their nutrition via capturing of food particles, they are pretty flexible in placement provided the areas they are positioned gets ample flow and easy access to target or broadcast feeding.

I opt to position these under the rock ledges simply because there aren't much options when it comes to colors and shape for non-photosynthetic species.

And since this reef is just a foot tall, target feeding them becomes easy.

Looking good!

Thanks Mellow !
